Treyarch have done a fair amount of teasing these past few months about who the actual villain is for their upcoming Black Ops 2. Today they have finally succumbed to fan pressure and have released a name.
The villain for Black Ops is Raul Menendez, a Messiah of the 99%. Raul is a ruthless and experienced character who is bent on starting a global takeover operation. The character and story was created by David Goyer who is also the co-writer of the upcoming blockbuster film The Dark Knight Rises.
After watching the trailer below and with the information Treyarch has provided, we can assume that both the film and game share a common theme.
At the end of the trailer we see Raul handing Sgt. Frank Woods a necklace which suggests some sort of connection between the two. Frank was the protagonist of the first game. Goyer’s film has Bane, Batman’s antagonist fighting against the rich and privileged. You can now just connect the dots.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will release for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on November 13, 2012.
