If you don’t know what DOOM is, it’s one of the — if not the –pioneers of the FPS genre. It was on the level of Call of Duty back when there wasn’t any Call of Duty to begin with.
Anyhoo, now that the history lesson is over, DOOM 3: BFG won’t just be a straight port, it will be remastered and include the Resurrection of Evil add-on pack. Aside from this, there will also be seven new levels entitled “The Lost Mission” included, which will feature “seven heart-pounding levels that will once again have them on the edge of their seats.”
The game will also support 3D, 5.1 surround sound and include Trophy/Achivements support.
For those who have already played DOOM 3, one chief complaint people had in the game was that it was a tad too dark. Well, DOOM 3: BFG Edition will now feature the new “armor-mounted flashlight, allowing players to illuminate dark corners and blast enemies at the same time.”
Here’s a trailer for you just to whet your appetites.
Before I forget, there’s also one tiny thing Bethesda is doing to sweeten the pot…and that’s adding in DOOM 1 and 2 to the mix! Yep, all three games for the price of one? Hell yeah! What’s puzzling me is, how come Bethesda didn’t just call it the DOOM BFG Trilogy or something similar, no?
DOOM 3: BFG Edition will be out this autumn for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
