Footage from both the multiplayer game and the single-player campaign is shown, but one of the most important aspects of the video is O’Conner’s coy hints about a new enemy type and a new series of Spartan soldiers. The game is set several years after Halo 3, and the Covenant won’t be the primary antagonist, but rather the story will deal with Humanity and the Covenant facing this mysterious new enemy.
O’Connor also mentions that there will not only be other Spartans in the game, but they will be a new version of the Spartan super soldier that is even more technologically advanced than Master Chief. He called these series 4 Spartans the Chief’s “Replacements,” but didn’t go into detail about abilities or new weapons that Humanity has created since the end of Halo 3.
The video does state that the game will more deeply explore the supporting cast to help gamers learn more about Master Chief himself. More details on gameplay and the story will be forthcoming in the months ahead.
Halo 4 comes out exclusively for Xbox 360 on November 6th 2012.
