Far Cry 3 is only a few months away, and Ubisoft is preparing for launch with an online beta test that will run shortly before launch. This is a closed beta test, so only a select few will be able to participate.
In order to join this band of the lucky few, gamers will need to buy a copy of Ubisoft’s other big online shooter, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier from Gamestop. For those who aren’t getting that particular game, there are a couple of other options.
One is to be a member of Gamestop’s Power Up Rewards program, or to “Like” Far Cry 3‘s page on Facebook. Either of these options will only result in a chance for beta participation and are not guaranteed.
Far Cry 3‘s multiplayer will give players access to six classes and the beta will feature a variety of maps for players to explore the game’s tropical island setting. The single-player campaign will feature a new protagonist name Jason Brody who is trapped on a tropical island which is populated with highly unstable people.
Far Cry 3 hits September 4th 2012 for PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3; exact dates for the beta have not been revealed yet.
