Martin Binfield, former staff member at Sony’s Cambridge studio’s has just released a video showcasing some of the games he’s worked on; and what’s interesting here is that some of the games shown in the footage are games that are already cancelled.
While the reel shows notable games such as: The Getaway 3, an unnamed sci-fi action game, and a slew more projects; it’s Binfield’s CV that warrants the most attention.
In it, he mentions that work was underway on a sequel to Sony’s 2007 “Goddes of War” game — Heavenly Sword. He mentions that work on the sequel started on 2008 but it has since been canned.
Heavenly Sword was developed by Ninja Theory, who, then went on to develop Enslaved for Namco Bandai. The studio is currently rebooting Devil May Cry for Capcom which is simply titled DMC.
It’s still unknown at this time if Sony has plans of visiting the Heavenly Sword universe again.
