EA Explains C&C’s Tank Similarity With Warhammer 40K

Just a couple of days ago Reddit users spotted striking resemblance between the planned tanks in EA’s upcoming Command and Conquer Tiberium Alliances and the one’s used in Game Workshop’s table top game Warhammer 40K.

Now EA has come forward to defend its questionable actions by stating that the incident was due to “an accidental exposure of concept art.”

The statement was given to GameSpot, and EA stated that the screenshots were leaked internal concepts.

“The artwork was internal EA concept art that was unintentionally released publicly. No Warhammer 40,000 tanks have ever made an appearance in Command and Conquer: Tiberium Alliances, and never will.

Games Workshop and EA continue to have a strong relationship working together on Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning and the new free to play game Warhammer Online: Wrath of Heroes which just entered open beta.”

Is it just me or does anyone else also feel EA was caught with their hands in the cookie jar?

Either way, the matter seems to have been resolved with this statement; whether or not it’s a valid one is an entirely different matter.
