Resident Evil 6 Retailer Pre-Order Bonuses Announced

Capcom has just revealed Resident Evil 6’s retailer-exclusive pre-order bonuses. The bonuses themselves won’t affect the game’s single-player (thankfully!) but will instead, be exclusive maps for the game’s Mercenaries mode.

For those who aren’t familiar with the mode, Mercenaries mode lets the player use their favorite RE characters as you fight your way through hordes of enemies within a given time limit. Think of it as Horde mode but timed.

Now that we have that out of the way, here are the details on the maps and where to pre-order to get them.

The Catacombs– Available exclusively at Gamestop with pre-order of Resident Evil 6

Official Description: There are more than just enemies lurking in these catacombs. Be weary of booby traps ready to ensnare you around every corner! Are your reflexes quick enough to avoid them?

High Seas Fortress – Available exclusively at with pre-order of Resident Evil 6.

Official Description: An expansive stage that takes you from the deck of an aircraft carrier to the hangars inside. Engage in intense shoot-outs on the deck, but hone your martial arts skills inside the narrow confines of the hangers.

Rail Yard – Available exclusively at Best Buy with pre-order of Resident Evil 6.

Official Description: A multi-level stage in the steel and concrete confines of a railroad yard. Enemies are lurking everywhere, from inside the trains to the roof of the yard. You’ll have to stay on the move to stay alive!

The rest of the images can be seen at Capcom’s blog.

While pre-order incentives are a given nowadays, I just don’t like it when it divides people from the game itself. What I mean is if I buy from Amazon, does that mean I can’t play on the same map with my friend who bought his copy at GameStop? Sure seems like it. In any case, Capcom will almost assuredly let people buy the maps themselves at a later date.

Resident Evil 6 will be out this Oct. 2 for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The game will have a PC version but Capcom isn’t talking about that version just yet.
