Rumor: Wii U to Cost $180 Just for Parts, Won’t be Priced Under $300
While Nintendo has already admitted that the Wii U will see its release later this year, that still hasn’t stopped rumors from coming in; and this time, we have purported prices on how much the Wii U’s parts will cost Nintendo.
According to Forget the Box’s unnamed sources, the total cost of materials needed to produce a Wii U and it’s tablet controller is estimated at $180.
Aside from this, the sources — whom the site claims are closely involved with manufacturing and distributing Nintendo products — states that the controllers total cost for materials and components cost no more than $50.
In saying all of this, the site also mentions that if we factor in labor, marketing, distribution and other costs, Nintendo won’t price the Wii U at under $300 at retail.
Keep in mind that this is a rumor and Nintendo has responded with the now industry-standard “We don’t comment on rumors or speculation.”
