John Romero Going Back to FPS Games

By   /   Apr 7, 2012

John Romero, famous videogame designer and id Software co-founder expressed his interest to go back to the FPS genre he helped shape. Romero, who has produced notable FPS games like Doom, Wolfenstein and Quake wants to do an MMOFPS for the PC.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Romero, who’s currently the CEO of social gaming studio LootDrop Inc., admitted that while he hasn’t formally started work on the game, he already knows its design.

Yes, I’m definitely going to be making another shooter and it will be on PC first…I don’t want to talk about the details but I already know what it is. I’ve already kind of designed the thing and it’s pretty cool – though of course, I am going to say that. I think it’s a neat design, I haven’t seen the design anywhere else.

While Romero didn’t divulge any specific details, he did reveal that it will be “MMO-ish” and will even offer a new twist on genre traditions.

If you’re already thinking of pre-ordering whatever the game might be called, hold on to your money first as Romero admitted that he still doesn’t know when work on the FPS will begin or if it will even be developed by Loot Drop Inc.

We’ll keep you posted as more news develops.
