The developers state that the map was born from an idea that a symmetrical map doesn’t have to be generic, the map, which is of a small scale compared to other maps is being built to cater to their Slayer game mode. 343 also reveals that the inspiration from the map comes from a lot of places, including oil refineries, giant mechs from films and animation, NASA imagery of gas giants, aircraft carries and more.
