New Splinter Cell to Continue Focus on Action, but Will Also Go Back to its Roots
The last Splinter Cell game – Splinter Cell: Conviction – was released back in 2010 to generally favorable reviews but you had to admit, aside from the stealth elements, it didn’t “feel” like a Splinter Cell game.
It seems Ubisoft’s aware of this as Jade Raymond, Ubisoft Toronto studio boss, has remarked that while the series will still focus on action, it will also explore one of its “overlooked root themes.”
It will have all of the action flick elements for sure, but we’re trying to also explore something a little bit more interesting that is actually one of the themes that’s at the root of the franchise historically, but never has been surfaced so much.
The next chapter in the Splinter Cell saga is rumored to be called Splinter Cell: Retribution, but aside from this rumor, not much else is known. Hopefully this is one of the game’s Ubisoft unveils at this year’s E3.
