Sex in The Witcher 2 About ‘Creative Freedom’ According to CD Projekt Red

CD Projekt Red, the developer behind well-acclaimed The Witcher 2, has stated that the inclusion of Sex in their game is only “creative freedom.”

Speaking to CVG, lead level artist Marek Ziemak stated:

“I think games are evolving. At the beginning the audience was a bit different and some people still think games are for children. We believe that’s not true.”

According to Ziemak, the usage of sex scenes in games is about using all the creative ‘weapons’ as being used by other creative people for their work, such as in movies, TV shows and even books.

“We’re using all the stuff that’s being used by other authors and creators like writers or movie directors. It’s not about delivering sex just to have sex in your game, it’s about creative freedom and having the same opportunities and using the same weapons as all the other creative people.”

Couldn’t agree with you more Ziemak. While seeing a bit of skin isn’t half bad either, what is more important is that game should have the capacity to portray intimate human emotions and experiences in the same manner movies and other media do.
