Yakuza Dead Souls Abilities and Heat Sniping Guide

Yakuza Dead Souls
Each character in Yakuza Dead Souls has abilities he can use against zombies under different circumstances.

These abilities can be upgraded through Soul Points; you will earn souls as you level up and fight more zombies. By investing the souls, you can upgrade your character’s different abilities and customize his fighting style.

From time to time, you will be able to take advantage of the environment around you using the Heat Snipe mechanic of the game and blast of zombies in any imaginable way. Though you need to fill a heat gauge to unlock heat snipe actions.

Yakuza Dead Souls Abilities

Following are the abilities you can use against the zombie horde and cleanse your town:

Battle Abilities

Battle Abilities are basically combat skills that will allow you to dominate in the fights.

Head Snap
Price: 1 Soul
Pre-Req: None
It’s a very handy skill that you should take early in the game. You will be automatically directed when you are pointed at an enemy’s general direction and go into the R2 manual aim mode.

Snap Lock
Price: 5 Souls
Pre-Req: Head Snap
The second most helpful skill is the Snap Lock which extends the length of time that “Head Snap” locks onto a head.

Shoulder Tackle
Price: 3 Souls
Pre-Req: N/A
You have to press square and X while running to perform a shoulder charge, but this ability is not very useful.

Repel
Price: 4 Souls
Pre-Req: N/A
Use it to knock back the zombies when they try to grab you by pressing circle when you are attacked.

Roundhouse Kick
Price: 5 Souls
Pre-Req:
It helps in dodging the attacks and firing on the enemies. Press square and X when standing still to kick enemies in a 360 degree radius.

Recovery Kick
Price: 5 Souls
Pre-Req:
The most important ability in the game that will help you in tight situations. Press square button before getting up to perform a 360 degree sweep kick upon getting up that will knock zombies to the ground.

Holding Kick
Price: 5 Souls
Pre-Req:
By Pressing square and X when grabbed by an enemy will allow you to kick additional enemies around you.

Keen Evasion
Price: 5 Souls
Pre-Req:
It will allow the player to perform consecutive evasions with X.

Superhuman Strength
Price: 3 Souls
Pre-Req:
Use this ability to crush enemies by picking up large objects like oil drums and motorcycles.

Powerful Throws
Price: 3 Souls
Pre-Req:
It will allow you to you throw things at a great distance.

Bare Hand Secrets
Price: 5 Souls
Pre-Req:
It’ll increase the attack power of all your physical attacks.

Bomber
Price: 15 Souls
Pre-Req:
All the explosive based attacks will have increased attack damage if you use this ability.

Reload Master
Price: 20 Souls
Pre-Req:
This cost effective skill will increase your reload speed helping you when surrounded by multiple enemies.

Bare Hand Master
Price: 20 Souls
Pre-Req:
Don’t buy it early in the game as it will only help you killing enemies with physical attacks.

Gary’s Boot Camp Abilities

These abilities cannot be bought but are earned by acquiring the hidden points in completing Gary’s training missions. Completing a mission will earn you 2 hidden points and will be asked to continue in order to unlock more hidden points and get access to Gary’s abilities.

Broad Marksmanship
Price: 10 Points
This will increase the auto-aiming ability and range as well.

Dangerous Concentration
Price: 20 Points
When you are running low on health/flashing red, it will increase the ability to get head shots with the auto-aim.

Precarious Marksmanship
Price: 30 Points
Your damage output is increased when your health is flashing red.

Stirring Water
Price: 40 Points
Your snipe gauge will auto-green if you are running red on health.

Superior Concentration
Price: 50 Points
It will decrease the rate of your sniper gauge when you are choosing which objects to heat snipe.

Foundation Abilities

On the higher difficulty level, these abilities are necessary as they have high armor and weapon using abilities. Hence they should be in the priority list before the battle abilities.

Expert Concentration
Price: 2 Souls
Pre-Req: None
It is a cheap skill that increases the speed that your Snipe Gauge automatically refills.

Master Concetraion
Price: 3 Souls
Pre-Req: Expert Concentration
Further increases the speed that your Snipe Gauge automatically and is cheap as well. Don’t miss it.

Superhuman Concentration
Price: 5 Souls
Pre-Req: Master Concentration
It increases the speed that your Snipe Gauge automatically. Get this as well.

Mind’s Eye
Price: 3 Souls
Pre-Req:
It unlocks Level 2 snipe gauge. New Heat Snipe attacks available and heat sniping is fun too.

Blink of an Eye
Price: 5 Souls
Pre-Req: Mind’s Eye
It will unlock Level 3 snipe gauge. New Heat Snipe attacks available.

Item Possession (14)
Price: 1 Souls
Pre-Req: None
Increase your total inventory space from 12 to 14. Inventory space is important for getting as many abilities as you can.

Increase your total inventory space from 14-16. Inventory space is important for getting as many abilities as you can.

Weapon Possession (4)

It will increase the number of weapons you can carry from 3-4.

Increase the number of weapons you can carry from 4-5.

Weapon Possession (6)
Price: 7 Souls

Increases the number of weapons you can carry from 5-6.

Accessory Usage (2)

Useful skill to buy as it increases the number of accessories which can be equipped from 1-2.

Increases the number of accessories which can be equipped from 2-3.

Accessory Usage (4)
Price: 7 Souls
Pre-Req: Accessory Usage (3)
Increases the number of accessories which can be equipped from 3-4.

Weapon Proficiency – Intermediate
Price: 2 Souls

It allows you to craft and use “Intermediate” level weapons.

Weapon Proficiency – Advanced
Price: 5 Souls
Pre-Req: Weapon Proficiency – Intermediate
It allows you to craft and use “Advanced” level weapons.

Weapon Proficiency – Master
Price: 10 Souls
Pre-Req: Weapon Proficiency – Advanced
It allows you to craft and use “Master” level weapons. It will allow you to make the best weapons in the game.

Armor Proficiency – Intermediate
Price: 2 Souls
Pre-Req: None
It allows you to craft and use “Intermediate” level armor.

Armor Proficiency – Advanced
Price: 5 Souls
Pre-Req: Armor Proficiency – Intermediate
Allows you to craft and use “Advanced” level armor.

Armor Proficiency – Master
Price: 10 Souls
Pre-Req: Armor Proficiency – Advanced
It allows you to craft and use “Master” level armor.

Yakuza Dead Souls Heat Sniping

Heat Snipe replaces the regular heat actions which can be performed in the same way by pressing the triangle button. You have to choose between the Heat Snipe actions by pressing circle button and complete the QTE in the same manner as the buttons indicate.

If you complete all the Heat Snipe actions, you’ll be rewarded with the “Sacrificial Stone” accessory. It will revive you to full health if it is completely depleted, you will get a text message in the game to collect your reward at Naomi’s.

Extreme Explosion

Kill an enemy by Heat Sniping an oil drum.

Electrical Extreme

Extreme 2 Wheel Explosion

It can be performed in area with multiple cars. You need to kill an enemy by heat sniping an area that has multiple cars with a gatling gun.

Extreme Gas Truck Explosion

You need a gas truck to perform it. Kill someone by Heat Sniping a gas truck.

Stream of Hellfire
Gun: Any
Heat Level: 1
Take out someone by heat sniping a gas line.

Niagara Falls Showstopper
Gun: Any
Heat Level: 1
Kill an enemy by shooting a water hookup.

Nitrogen Shower Showstopper
Gun: Any
Heat Level: 1
Kill an enemy by shooting a canister of liquid nitrogen. It can be performed in the final chapter millennium Tower 57F.

Falling Steel
Gun: Any
Heat Level: 1
Perform it slightly west of the millennium Tower. Kill someone by shooting steel beams down from the top of a building.

Thrown Weapon Sniping

Extreme Grenade Explosion
Gun: Any + Hand Grenade
Heat Level: 2
It can be done anywhere. You can kill someone by Heat Sniping a hand grenade right after you throw it.

Extreme Carpet Bombing
Gun: Any + Heavy Hand Grenade
Heat Level: 2
Kill an enemy by Heat Sniping a heavy hand grenade right after you throw it. It can be done anywhere.

Extreme Molotov Explosion
Gun: Any + Molotov Cocktail
Heat Level: 2
Kill an enemy by Heat Sniping a Molotov cocktail right after you throw it. It can be done anywhere.

Napalm Blast
Gun: Any + Ebisu Fire Grenade
Heat Level: 2
Kill an enemy by Heat Sniping a ebisu fire grenade right after you throw it. It can be done anywhere.

Cooperative Sniping

Extreme Co-op Grenade Explosion
Gun: Any
Heat Level: 1
Affection Rank: B or higher
It’s the easiest one to get. All you have to do is watch your partner’s picture and hit the triangle button when you get the chance. They will throw grenades at you, and you have to shoot em. It can be done with a partner anywhere.

Partnership Barrage
Gun: Any
Heat Level: 1
Affection Rank: Any
You need to do a counter snipe while having a partner. Your partner will shoot the variation zombie with you. High “relationship” will increase the chances. It can be done with a partner anywhere.

Death Waltz
Location: Anywhere, but with a partner and 10 or more zombies.
Gun: Submachine Gun or Gatling Gun
Heat Level: 1
Affection Rank: Any
This will require 10 or more zombies around you, and you need a gun that shoots quickly. You might have to try it a couple of times.

Counter Sniping

Smiling Blow
Gun: Any
Heat Level: 1
It can be performed anywhere with a Macho Man Zombie.When a Macho Man Zombie attempts to do a great two-hand strike down on you, heat snipe it. The Macho Man Zombie is the great enemy that has its face as its weak point.

Sealing Blow
Gun: Any
Heat Level: 1
It can be performed anywhere with a Pipsqueak enemy; When a Pipsqueak attempts to attack you, heat snipe it. The Pipsqueak enemy is the small guy who wears a helmet.

Extreme Smiling Hammer
Gun: Monster Rifle
Heat Level: 3
It can be performed anywhere with a Macho Man Zombie. Counter the Macho Man Zombie the same as in “Smiling Blow,” but do it with a monster rifle. It is given to Kiryu in the Final Chapter.

Grounding Blow
Gun: Any
Heat Level: 3
It can be performed anywhere with a Flying Boy enemy.When a Flying Boy attempts to rush attack you, heat snipe it. Make sure sure to be close enough to pull this move off. The Flying Boy is the flying enemy that often spits at you from distance.

Siege Blow
Gun: Any
Heat Level: 3
It can be executed anywhere with a Rock Buddha enemy.When a Rock Buddha attempts to attack you with his rolling attack, heat snipe it. It’s easier to pull this off; Rock Buddha is the one with the rock armor.

Extreme Smiling Hammer
Gun: Monster Rifle
Heat Level: 3
Execute it anywhere with a Macho Man Zombie enemy. Counter the Macho Man Zombie the same as in “Smiling Blow,” with a monster rifle.

Extreme Sealing Hammer
Gun: Monster Rifle
Heat Level: 3
Counter the Pipsqueak the same as in “Sealing Blow,” with a monster rifle. It can be done anywhere with a Pipsqueak enemy.

Extreme Siege Hammer
Gun: Monster Rifle
Heat Level: 3
Counter the Rock Buddha the same as in “Siege Blow,” with a monster rifle. Perform it anywhere with a Rock Buddha enemy.

Extreme Grounding Hammer
Gun: Monster Rifle
Heat Level: 3
Counter the Flying Boy the same as in “Grounding Blow”,with a monster rifle. Perform it anywhere with a flying Boy enemy.

Counter Blow

It can be performed anywhere with a molotov cocktail throwing enemy.When a Molotov cocktail throwing the enemy attacks you, heat snipe the bottle they attempt to throw at you.
