It seems the next Elder Scrolls game will be with us sooner than we think. According to Tom’s Guide’s sources who wished to remain anonymous, Bethesda and Zenimax are hard at work on Elder Scrolls Online and it will be announced in May of this year.
The game’s timeline, will purportedly take place a full millennium before the events of Skyrim and this bit of info was corroborated by two other sources, which makes it seem more plausible. Furthermore, the game will supposedly have three different factions and they will be represented by one of three animals – a lion, a dragon and a bird of some sort.
If this May announcement is true, then the game will most likely make an appearance at this year’s E3 – which would make sense. Additionally, don’t be surprised if the game makes an appearance at the annual QuakeCon event in August, which it will most likely be accompanied by id Software’s Doom 4 and other key Bethesda titles.
Keep in mind that this is still a rumor for now and Bethesda has answered with the now-standard “no comment” when pressed for answers regarding this little tidbit of news.
Are you excited for this? Do you think the MMO market can survive with three big MMOs? If this is true, I suspect World of Warcraft and Star Wars: The Old Republic might be in for a bigger battle than they expected.
