Obsidian Hit with Layoffs, Cancels Next-Gen Game for Microsoft
In rather sad news, Obsidian Entertainment, the studio known for doing development duties for the Neverwinter Nights franchise and most recently, 2010’s Fallout: New Vegas and Dungeon Siege III, haven been struck with layoffs.
The layoffs, which happened across the board, left the company 20-30 employees leaner. The people who were canned were working on the South Park: The Game and on a next-gen project called – North Carolina.
In a similar report, Kotaku’s sources claim that Project North Carolina was something the developer was doing for Microsoft. Sadly, Microsoft cancelled the project and the that was that. Obsidian CEO Feargus Urquhart was even reportedly “choked up” when he addressed the company during a meeting.
Hopefully, the people laid off can find jobs soon. It’s never a good thing to hear when this sort of thing happens.
