Have you finished Mass Effect 3? If not, don’t worry, as we won’t be spoiling anything for you by reading this piece. What we’re here to discuss is how much fans are clamoring for a “new” ending for the game.
It even reached a point that they’re petitioning BioWare for them to change it and they managed to raise $28,000 (which fans are donating to Child’s Play charity) because of it.
Now, the franchise’s executive producer, Casey Hudson, has answered these claims. While he hasn’t answered anything directly, he does insist that the ending was meant to be “polarizing” to get people talking.
I didn’t want the game to be forgettable, and even right down to the sort of polarizing reaction that the ends have had with people–debating what the endings mean and what’s going to happen next, and what situation are the characters left in. That to me is part of what’s exciting about this story. There has always been a little bit of mystery there and a little bit of interpretation, and it’s a story that people can talk about after the fact.
Hudson also revealed that they’re working single-player DLC, but will this “re-shape” the game’s ending? He wouldn’t say. I haven’t finished the game’s single-player campaign yet, but I know I wouldn’t say no if they want to continue the game’s narrative.
