Microsoft has just hired former Sony Computer Entertainment exec Phil Harrison. Harrison, will lead Microsoft Studios Europe and will join the Interactive Entertainment Business leadership team as the corporate vice president.
Microsoft has also commented that Harrison’s hiring was in no way connected to Peter Molyneux’s resignation from Lionhead Studios and Microsoft – that position has actually been filled by Lionhead COO Mark Webley.
Harrison, who has 25 years of games industry experience, had this to say:
I am excited to be joining the senior team at Microsoft at a pivotal time for our industry. I am really impressed with the company’s long-term vision for growing the market for interactive entertainment globally and also with the incredible wealth of talent, technology and resources the company has available to succeed.
Hopefully, Harrison can make something good out of his new position and in any case, I gather a congratulations are in order, yes?
