While I have no doubt that Mass Effect 3 won’t be the last game in the franchise, you know reassures that even more? Try EA shipping over three million copies of the game across the world! Yeah, it’s that successful.
It’s also worth noting that the game sold 890,000 copies of the game across all three platforms on day one in the US alone. Mind you, this is sold not shipped…this means that close to a million people went out and bought the game just in the US alone.
US retailer GameStop also revealed that about 40 percent of the people who bought the game also bought a a download code for the game’s day one DLC called: From Ashes.
Of course, this is nowhere near Call of Duty or Battlefield numbers, but keep in mind that those are multiplayer-heavy affairs. This one is “merely” a single player game – albeit one with a multiplayer component added in for the first time.
Congratulations, EA and BioWare! Let’s hope we don’t have to wait that long for Mass Effect 4!
