The Last Guardian Making “Slow Progress” According to Sony

By   /   Feb 11, 2012

Sony’s Team ICO is an acclaimed development studio behind PS2 masterpieces, ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. So, naturally, people are very curious as to the status of the team’s first game for the PS3. Yep, I’m talking about The Last Guardian.

The game has been teased, shown off in multiple events, and what’s worse, it’s also been delayed numerous times – to the point people are calling it vaporware. Speaking in an interview, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida revealed, “The project has been making progress, but slow progress,” he admitted.

What’s also interesting is Yoshida admitted that some rebuilding is being done to the game.

So that’s tough, but we haven’t changed any focus. It’s still a really important project and a vision we want to see realised, and Fumito’s vision is really causing a very difficult challenge for the developers, so there’s some scrapping and rebuilding – iteration in the process. That’s why [it’s taking so long]

While this doesn’t bode well for the game, let’s just hope that The Last Guardian will finally see the light of day this year. I’m guessing we’re going to see more news regarding it at this year’s  E3.
