Needless to say, this post will contain spoilers for Final Fantasy XIII-2. So, if you haven’t finished it or played it, I suggest perusing this article another time – preferably if you’ve finished the game or watched its ending on Youtube.
Now that we have that out of the way, FF XIII-2 game director Motomu Toriyama was asked about the game’s ending – or lack thereof during a group interview session following a FF XIII-2 stage event at the Taipei Game Show. For the uninitiated, FF XIII-2’s conclusion ends with the message, “To be continued.” Does this mean there will be another sequel for the FF XIII sub-franchise?
Toriyama explained that the reason the message was there was for a couple of different reasons. One of those is so that players will make an effort to look for all the Paradox Endings the game has to offer. Another reason is that FF XIII-2 will get additional DLC to iron out the game’s story. Not only that, but Toriyama mentioned that they’re planning on continually releasing DLC to further prolong the game’s experience.
In addition, Toriyama noted that Lightning and Amodar are being added to the game’s Coliseum Battle mode in an upcoming DLC; and separate from this, they’re also preparing a “large” Lightning Episode (DLC).
Now that’s a lot of Final Fantasy XIII-2! While the question if FFXIII-2 will get another sequel wasn’t answered, I think it’s safe to say that FF XIII-2 fans won’t be left high and dry even if they’ve finished the game’s main story.
Do you want more DLC for FF XIII-2 or is it time for them to move on to the next big Final Fantasy?
