If you’re a die-hard Halo fan, this might shock you more than it should. Bungie – the developers responsible for the franchise’s massive success, has officially confirmed that it’s letting go of the franchise on March 31.
Bungie’s official website had this to say, “Bungie will no longer be able to update game stats and player service records, to host new user generated content, or to operate the Bungie Pro service. All currently supported, Bungie-developed Halo titles will be impacted by this change.”
Though the developer will continue to keep historic data for as long as the internet and Bungie’s data storage data systems remain functional.
If you’ve been living under a rock these past year, Microsoft’s Halo franchise is now being handled by 343 Industries and Bungie has signed a 10-year exclusive publishing deal with mega-publisher Activision.
