SSX Online Pass Is Not Mandatory To Play The Multiplayer

EA has decided to go with a slightly different strategy for SSX’s multiplayer. Players can compete in both online modes i.e Explore and Global events but the in-game credits earned as rewards will only be accessible when they actually buy the online pass.

So, if you have a used copy of the game, you still can enjoy the multiplayer content and your in-game credits will be stored against the user account but you can’t use them. Once you buy the pass that will cost you $10, all those earned credits can be used to purchase items and passes for events. Speaking to Game Informer, EA’s spokesperson said:

In SSX, players without an Online Pass are able to compete and play in both of SSX’s online game modes, Explore and Global Events with no restrictions. In Global Events, the top finishers from each event are awarded with in-game credits. These in-game credits earned during play will not be awarded to the player if they do not have an Online Pass; these credits will be stored so that at any time, if a player redeems an Online Pass code, all the credits that they had previously earned in Global Events will be immediately awarded to them.

So, no restrictions apparently but you may feel the need to enhance your experience which can only be done if you have the online pass code. How about it?

The game is set to release on February 28.
