“Nintendo Network” – Something Similar To PSN And XBL

Sony has PSN while Microsoft can provide the digital content to the users through Xbox Live. And now, Nintendo is about to bring something similar that will offer downloadable content, enhanced community features and probably the opportunity to download the complete games sometimes in the future. The “Nintendo Network” however is planned for the latest consoles i.e. 3DS and Wii U only. Here is what Satoru Iwats said in company’s financial report:

Unlike Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, which has been focused upon specific functionalities and concepts, we are aiming to establish a platform where various services available through the network for our consumers shall be connected via Nintendo Network service so that the company can make comprehensive proposals to consumers.

The service will allow the users to login their Wii U accounts via same console unlike Vita’s one account – one device strategy. They will start things slow and hopefully at sometimes, 3DS and Wii U owners will have the freedom to download full games through the network. With the Wi-Fi support, the Nintendo Network can be a great enhancement for the users which can also strengthen Nintendo’s market to some extent. That was my opinion but being a 3DS owner or a future buyer of Wii U, what are your thoughts about the new service being offered by the company?
