Rockstar is loosening up a bit on the details as we get closer to the release of the third installment in the great Max Payne series. We have seen plenty of screenshots and some in game footage but this time, the developer has revealed some information about the promised multiplayer of the game.
Max Payne 3 will feature a multiplayer that tries to keep the narrative focus intact. The first mode to be revealed is “Gang Wars”. Although the name suggests that it might be like kill, kill and just kill but that is not the case here. The mode features a sequence of events that can vary depending upon the results of the previous rounds.
For example if the first round was about collecting the cash bags (team with most cash bags will win) the next can be about controlling the nodes or it may be about defusing some bombs in the particular territory. The top scorer of collect the cash bags round can also get a bounty on his head etc. Rockstar claims that there are virtually countless possibilities which will reduce the one sided affairs which mostly happens in the competitive multiplayer games.
Then there are perks rendering some additional features. They aren’t like the super powers but their inclusion will make a difference. For example “Paranoia” will make your enemies see their friends as enemies while the “Sneaky” perk will make you appear like a friendly in enemy ranks. There are other perks with different effects that actually will alter the apparent reality of the game. So, no air strikes, no sentry drones etc.
By the current details, the concept no doubt is slightly different considering the fact that we have a number of games these days having the multiplayer based on the same old concept. We are hoping that Max Payne 3 will manage to deviate from the tradition and bring up something more unique and joyous.
Max Payne 3 is set to blast (I mean release) in March, 2012.
