These Games Won Spike VGA 2011 Top Honors

With 2011 just closing down, it was the time to award some of the most fascinating games that were released this year, at the Spike TV’s Video Games Award.

Nominees for Spike TV’s 2011 “VGAs” were determined by the VGA Advisory Council, made up of a group of some of the most well-respected video game journalists from media outlets including Entertainment Weekly, USA Today, Game Informer Magazine, Kotaku, Joystiq, GameSpot, IGN and WIRED.

The epic dragon slaying role-playing juggernaut Skyrim scored the game of the year award for 2011 with Bethesda holding the trophy for best studio, while Blizzard took away the Gamer God award.

Portal 2 earned awards for Best PC Game, Best Multiplayer, Best DLC and Best Performance by a Human Male & Human Female.

  3. Character of the Year – The Joker, Batman: Arkharm City

  6. Best Xbox 360 Game – Batman: Arkham City
  7. Best PS3 Game – Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception
  8. Best Wii Game – The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
  9. Best PC Game – Portal 2
  10. Best Handheld/Mobile Game – Super Mario 3D Land
  11. Best Shooter – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
  12. Best Action Adventure Game – Batman: Arkham City
  13. Best RPG: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
  14. Best Multiplayer – Portal 2
  15. Best Individual Sports Game – Fight Night Champion
  16. Best Driving Game – Forza Motorsport 4
  17. Best Fighting Game – Mortal Kombat
  18. Best Motion Game – The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
  19. Best Independent Game – Minecraft
  20. Best Adapated Video Game – Batman: Arkham City
  21. Best Song in a Game – “Setting Sail, Coming Home (End Theme)” by Darren Korb, Bastion
  22. Best Original Score – Bastion
  23. Best Graphics – Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception
  24. Best Performance by a Human Male – Stephen Merchant as Wheatley, Portal 2
  25. Best Performance by a Human Female – Ellen McLain as GLaDOS, Portal 2
  26. Best Downloadable Game – Bastion
  27. Best DLC – Portal 2 – Peer Review
  28. Most Anticipated Game – Mass Effect 3
