Resistance: Burning Skies Announced For Playstation Vita

By   /   Aug 16, 2011

Resistance: Burning Skies is an entirely different game with its own timeline, story and main character build specifically for Playstation Vita. It serve as prequel to Resistance 2 and follows the events of the destruction of United States through the eyes of a New York city fireman, Tom Riley – who carries around an axe melee weapon. Guess what ? keeping your work tools became handy after all.

You can access the axe by tapping a virtual button on the bottom-right of the Vita touch-screen. Expect all the true to Resistance action, guns with alternate fire modes and much more thanks to Vita’s touch controls and dual analog sticks. Two examples demonstrated were the ability to highlight enemies with touchscreen to attack them, and a grenade launcher that shoots wherever you tap on the screen.

Resistance: Burning Skies also introduces new cover system – Tap to crouch behind cover and you automatically enter this mode. Tilt the handheld to peek around corners or look over. Guess that’s makes Burning Skies pretty much made for Vita title. It is in development at Nihilistic Software, the studio behind Playstation Move Heroes. Insomniac have been pretty clear about keeping handheld development away from themselves which explains why the game hasn’t been developed in-house and will never be.
