F1 Online: The Game – Free To Play Racing MMO Heading Your Way
Codemasters, the developer of famous F1 2010 and Dirt series has announced a free to play browser-based game, “F1 Online: The Game”. The game is set to launch in Q1 2012 and the registration is now open through the official site. The game will feature top-down gameplay in which players will act as a driver and a team boss, competing with other players to improve the reputation. According to David Solari, Vice President of Codemasters Online:

Although it’s a browser-based game but graphics appeal will count a lot to keep the interest alive.The Unity engine used for this purpose can live up to the expectations. The game will also feature all the real-time drivers, teams and circuits from 2011 “FIA Formula ONE World Championship”.
Players will be able to choose their favorite team and compete in various game modes like the different Grand Prix events or the complete Formula One World Championship. Players will also have the option to build their own team and customize it the way the want it to, managing different aspects like the crew members and commercial decisions etc.
Since it’s an MMO, there will be leaderboards and social elements for tracking and sharing the stats. If things go as planned, it may turn out to be a great game as there are thousands of F1 fans who would love the to compete with other players online, specially, when it is free to play.
