How many times we have seen these firmware updates that were just to close few loopholes since Sony Hacked saga ? Countless. This time though, it is one of those firmware updates you would really want to know about.

PS3 firmware version 3.70 update is available and adds lots of new cool features that PS3 fans have long demanded. Especially those who are Playstation Plus subscribers and have 3D TV would be particularly happy.

The new firmware update will add Automatic Download feature that’s only available to Plus subscribers. It’s called Automatic Update and it will enable you to schedule times, automatically sync Trophies with PSN and upload game saves to your online Storage.

Those who love 3D are in luck since this update will bring three new features. It adds 3D support for when you browse a Blu-ray’s special features that run on Java, adds lossless audio support for watching a Blu-ray movie in 3D, and now you can view Digital photos taken in 3D from the XMB.

XMB will also add a new category called TV/Video Services, allowing you to access apps like Netflix, Hulu Plus,, and NHL GameCenter from there. Speaking of new additions, Playstation Store has been updated with a new recommendation engine.

It will now include a Recommend Button to each item’s listing page enabling you to recommend that to your friends. Press the Recommend Button and select who you want to recommend that item to, a message would be sent to your friends along with a link to the item’s page so they can give it a try.

PSP fans on the other hand would be disappointed to find out that the firmware update 6.60 doesn’t add any new feature. Though you would expect these features to make their way to PSP soon enough.
