Borderlands 2 Confirmed, Almost.
Today, Eurogamer is reporting that a source close to them has confirmed the development of Borderlands 2 at Gearbox and has revealed that the shooter will release on PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 next year.
A formal announcement from the Publisher 2K Games will be made soon. We expect it to be around GamesCom, now that it’s just around the corner.
It’s not the first time Borderlands 2 has made the news. In April it was spotted on an online resume of game developer which sparked speculation that the sequel will be announced at E3 in June.
Gearbox CEO, Randy Pitchford has always been positive about the sequel to the award-winning shooter and it shouldn’t be any surprise that a sequel is in development.
I can tell you that myself and everyone at Gearbox LOVES Borderlands and we have been absolutely thrilled at the reception it’s gotten from our customers and the fact that it’s sold over four million units now, he told Eurogamer. So you can see that we supported the game like mad with lots of great DLC and you can imagine that we’re going to want to do a lot of things with Borderlands in the future. But we’ve only announced what we’ve announced. If we haven’t announced it, it doesn’t exist.
In all fairness Borderlands was a great game. We tweaked it, played it online, and even tried it in third-person perspective. It was a great time killer, though we were a bit disappointed by its online connectivity issues.
