Digitimes is reporting that a Taiwanese manufacturer has claimed that the production of Playstation 4 will begin at the end of 2011 for the launch in 2012. It will feature built-In motion control similar to Kinect.
Foxconn and Pegatron Technology reportedly been chosen to handle the assembly of the next generation Playstation console, with a minimum of 20 million units planned to ship in 2012.
This report comes after the recent claims made by a Crytek Insider that the developer is making a game for the next generation Playstation and Xbox. Source claimed that both of these consoles will be unveiled at E3 2012, followed by a release at the end of the same year.
It would a surprise if Playstation 4 is indeed in production and will be a slap in the face of Sony, who has been very vocal about their planed 10 year strategy for Playstation 3 and how they aren’t bothered by Kinect and Wii U.
Anyway, If it indeed is true, it won’t be the first time, Sony has contradicted itself.
