Operation Flashpoint: Red River Multiplayer Class Guide

Operation Flashpoint series is known for tactical and realistic gameplay just like the Arma series. Operation Flashpoint: Red River is no different as it tests the patience and strategic approach of players to complete a particular objective.

There are 4 different classes in the game and each require a different mindset. You should first read our basic game guide, this will help you understand the core gameplay mechanics of Red River. In this guide, I will give you an overview of each class in this guide to help you pick the class that suits your unique game style.

Rifleman Class

It’s rather a universal or flexible class which is neither specific for long range marksman like shooting or close quarter encounters.

Weapons
You can use following weapons in this particular class.

  • M16A4
  • MEU(SOC)
  • M4A1

Attachments
One can use following attachments in this class:

  • Red Dot Sight (RDS) – A red dot helps in aiming the targets.
  • Reflex Sight (CQB) – Helps in short quarter shooting.
  • Marksman Sight (M) – Aids in picking up targets at long range.
  • Sniper Scope (SN)- This device can aim targets farther than 500m
  • Night Ops Scope (NO) – This scope is useful for long range shooting in dark.
  • Suppressor (SP) – Acts like a silencer and reduces the flash and muzzle velocity.
  • M203 – It’s a grenade launcher attachment.

Gadgets
These are useful tools to examine the area and help in devising the strategy of attack.

  • Binoculars – It can be used for multiple purposes like you can pin point a section for air strike.
  • IR Strobe – This gadget is used for coordinating extraction waypoints.
  • M14 AP Mine – This mine can be used to target humans (Anti-personnel mines).
  • M67 Frag – This frag device can damage infantry at close to medium to range.
  • M18 SMoke – Smoke grenades that can used to break the line of sight.
  • M18 Claymore – It’s a device that works just like a mine and is activated if anything enters it’s radius of detection.

B – MOD
Mods’ functions are same as those of perks that can enhance certain attributes either related to weapons or soldiers.

  • Combat Training – Increases Xp earned by 10%

S – MOD

  • Support Pack – Team Medic (Pro), Mine Deployment (Expert)

  • AR AP Rounds – (M4A1, M16A4) Armor Mitigation (High), Damage (Increased)

  • AR Ammo Pack – (M4A1, M16A4) Magazines (Increased), Recovery (Reduced)

Grenadier Class

This class is specialized in explosives and close quarter confrontations. It has the highest armor rating.

  • M21 AT Mine – These are Anti-vehicle mines
  • C4 Charge – An explosive used for demolition purpose. Useful for setting up traps like the claymores.

  • Combat Veteran – Increases combat experience by 20%

S-MOD

  • Heavy Assault Gear – Armor (Pro), Resilience (Expert)

Marksman Class

This class includes the sharpshooters specialized to pick targets from distant places. They are not snipers though. They usually use long range assault rifles.

Auto-Gunner Class

This class includes the machine gunners who actually provide the suppressive fire giving others the opportunity to flank the enemy.
