Infinity Ward has released details regarding the Spec Ops and Survival modes in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The Spec Ops Mode will feature a new progressive ranking system, an online matchmaking system and leaderboards.
The Survival Mode will take place on the multiplayer maps of Modern Warfare 3. The mode resembles the horde-styled modes we’ve seen in many sci-fi shooters. Players will have to fend off waves of varying enemies, including dogs, suicide bomber dogs (huh?), insane kamikaze soldiers, and heavily armored juggernauts.
Although the idea of horde-styled modes is not too new in general, it definitely is for the Call of Duty series, and it’ll be interesting to see how it is implemented. Developers are claiming that it will be quite challenging as players will have to change their strategies.
Adapt to the different types of enemy waves that come up, as the way you fight each type of enemy will be entirely different from the others. There will also be specific methods to get success against specific waves and sets of enemies.
We’re glad that details have been given regarding the multiplayer aspects of the game; we’re just waiting for further details regarding the competitive nature, and of course, regarding dedicated servers. We’ll keep you updated as the news come.
Modern Warfare 3 will release worldwide on November 8th, 2011.
