Mass Effect 3 Delayed To First Quarter 2012

By   /   May 5, 2011

Guess what folks; your hopes of kicking Reaper butts in the holiday season this year have been shattered. That’s right; as we predicted, Mass Effect 3 has been delayed till early 2012. Bioware stated via Facebook that it will come out for PC, Xbox360 and PS3 in next year’s first quarter.

Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012. The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations,” said Casey Hudson, the executive producer of the Mass Effect series.

This doesn’t necessarily have to be a very bad thing, since majority of the fans believe it would’ve been foolish to rush the finale of a highly popular series such as Mass Effect itself. Additionally, many highly anticipated games, such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Battlefield 3 are also being released in the 4th quarter of this year, which was the initial release time for Mass Effect 3, which may have been another reason for moving to a relatively more isolated release date.

It’s a safe bet that this delay wouldn’t annoy fans too much, though a tinge of disappointment may be observed. Such a delay is quite tolerable, as long as Bioware guys don’t make it a habit (which they are definitely not known to do).

In case you didn’t know, in Mass Effect 3 players will once again take on the role of Commander Shepard, the shrewd Alliance Marine and Spector who is now on the run from Cerberus, and also on trial for his actions in Arrival.
