The Next Big Thing (PC) Black Screen, Errors, Crashes and Fixes

The Next Big Thing demands you to fill in the shoes of Charismatic actors like Dan Murray and Liz Allaire on an incredible journey full of laughs, twists, and crazy adventures of different movie genres of crazy Hollywood.

If you come across technical troubles in your way, our troubleshooting guide will assist you resolve them.

General Troubleshooting
Make sure you go through these points before you go looking for the more specific problems and solutions:

  • If you cannot run the game or you are experiencing stuttering, please close any background applications that could be the cause of this like the virus scanners, optimization tools etc.
  • Your drivers (GPU and sound card) should be up to date. Check that your OS is updated by Windows Update.
  • If you have two graphics cards connected either with Crossfire or SLI, disable one GPU from the control panel and run the game.

1# Can’t Activate The Game
You will have to disable the DeepGuard of your F-SECURE antivirus or firewall or any other antivirus you are using. You can enable it again once the game has been activated.

#2 Can’t run the game with two monitor screen
It is possible that you may face issues with two screen mode enabled. So you need to disable the dual screen mode (secondary display) of your monitor.

#3 Game shuts down immediately after the launch
This issue is probably related to the 6 core processors. You can use the following workarounds if you are using a 6 core processor:

  • You can use Startaffinity or similar tools to launch the game.
  • If you are using OS other than windows 7 then you can add /numproc=4 in the windows boot.ini file.
  • Or you can also disable 2 cores from the BIOS options (not recommended specially of you are not an advanced PC user)

#4 How to access the Save files of Next Big Thing
For Windows XP:

  1. Click Windows Start button then My Computer.
  2. Open Local Disk (C:).
  3. Open Documents and Settings folder then All Users folder.
  4. Open Application Data folder. If the Application Data folder is hidden, click Tools then Folder Options. Click View tab and check Show hidden files and folders from Advanced settings. Click OK.
  5. Open Application Data folder then Pendulo Studios folder.
  6. Open TNBT folder then SAVEGAME folder.

For Windows Vista/Windows 7

  1. Click Windows Start button then Computer.
  2. Open Local Disk (C:).
  3. Open ProgramData folder. If the ProgramData folder is hidden, click Organize then Folder and search options.
  4. Click View tab and check Show hidden files, folders, and drivers from Advanced settings. Click OK.
  5. Open ProgramData folder then Pendulo Studios folder.
  6. Open TNBT folder then SAVEGAME folder.

#5 The Next Big Thing Configuration Tool
If you want to configure games resolution (which is set to optimum by default), you can use the display tool to adjust screen resolution. To find this tool:

  1. Click Windows Start button then All Programs.
  2. Click Pendulo Studios then click The Next BIG Thing.
  3. Click The Next Big Thing – Config.

#6 Can’t play the cut-scenes
You can try reinstalling the game. If this doesn’t work then manually re download the game without using the downloader.

#7 Configuration Tool Won’t Work/Crashes
Launch the tool as administrator. This should solve the problem.

#8 The Pointer and Subtitles keep on flickering
One workaround to solve the issue for ATI users is to uncheck “use applications settings” in “SMOOTHVISION HD antialiasing” option.

#9 Black screen problem
The issue most probably is related to resolution which might be more than your monitor’s capacity. So lower the game’s resolution using the configuration tool and the game should work fine.
