Ubisoft Caught Using Pirated Soundtrack in Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood Delux Edition

Ubisoft faced the anger of PC gamers last year when they deliberately introduced its DRM techonology in an effort to thwart piracy. Did it solve what it was supposed to ? No but it did reduce Ubisoft’s loyal fans.

Now that dust has settled down a bit, in a strange twist it appears Ubisoft will be selling a pirated version of its own soundtrack in the Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood Digital Deluxe Edition (PC).

Reddit user “plginger” noticed something strange after downloading the soundtrack included in the digital deluxe edition of Brotherhood as each song was encoded by an “arsa13.” After some research,he discovered that the tag is linked to a ripped ‘Torrented’ version of the soundtrack from the previously released Xbox Collectors Edition Soundtrack for Brotherhood.

Now what does that mean ? it means Ubisoft downloaded the torrented version of its own soundtrack, posted on BitTorrent site Demonoid by arsa13 four months ago, converted it to lower quality MP3 format, and included it in the Digital Deluxe Edition of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood.

Convenient I guess.
