2011 – Playstation 3 Games Coming in Stereoscopic 3D
Playstation 3 has been firing up the console wars mainly because of its unique approach and dedication to its user base. And that’s not going to stop anytime soon when you look at the list of games coming in 2011 that will be playable in 3D.
1. Crysis 2
First-person shooter Crysis returns powered by CryEngine 3 and will come on Playstation 3 with Stereoscopic 3D support. Crysis 2 will be released on March 22, 2011, and will feature player online multiplayer alongside single player campaign.
2. de Blob 2: Underground
The sequel to Blue Tongue Entertainment’s charming and colorful platformer de Blob comes with a number of improvements over the first game, and with its appearance on greatly enhanced along with the support for Stereoscopic 3D on Playstation 3.
EA claims that Crytek’s Crysis 2 will be the first “true 3D” game for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
3. Dungeon Defenders
Dungeon Defenders is a tower defense game that will make its way to PSN next year with Playstation move and 3D support.
4. Ico and Shadow of the Colossus Collection
Playstation 2 classics Shadow of the Colossus and Ico are officially heading to the PS3 on one Blu-ray disc. Ico and Shadow of the Colossus: The Collection for the PS3 will support full HD compatibility as well as support for 3D and Trophies.
5. Killzone 3
Sequel to the visually iconic Killzone 2 will come to its home Playstation 3, on February 15, 2011 and will be playable in 3D.
6. Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat on the PlayStation 3 will feature an option to play the game in Stereoscopic 3D. That’s what Ed Boon has to say about the prospect of playing one of the best fighting game in 3D.
We’ve been working on stereoscopic 3D, getting the game to work with the layers that makes 3D look so great, and so far the video that we’ve gotten is really impressive.
It’s a lot more immersive, said Boon. You really feel like you’re inside the fight more. With our fighting we have a lot more of a 2D fighting field, but the 3D visuals really complements that a lot.
7. MotorStorm Apocalypse
It’s Motorstorm’s take on survival racing with destructible environment in apocalyptic setting. Motorstorm Apocalypse will be playable in 3D and developer Evolution Studios already see it a hit.
Motorstorm Apocalypse is “the best and most technically accomplished example of stereoscopic 3D on the PS3.”

8. Virtua Tennis 4
Critically acclaimed Virtua Tennis series will come to PlayStation 3, featuring full PlayStation Move compatibility and 3D technology. Developed in Japan by the original Virtua Tennis Team, Virtua Tennis 4, releasing in 2011, promises a more immersive, true to life tennis experience than ever before.
9. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception
Community Strategist Arne Meyer has already confirmed in an interview on Playstation Blog that Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception fully supports high-resolution Stereoscopic 3D.
I am personally interested in playing Killzone 3, and Crysis 2 in 3D. What about you ?
