2# Runs too fast or too slow in “Full Screen” mode
Use in-game settings to turn it to “Windowed” mode.
Update video drivers and ensure that they allow application to decide graphical settings.

Or

3# Third-party game controller doesn’t work
Use a program such as Xpadder or JoyToKey to map keyboard controls to your controller.

4# Super Meat Boy Crashes on ALT-Tab
Launch the game windowed or disable steam cloud.

5# Black Screen at Start Up
Make sure you are running the game in your native desktop resolution and have updated your video card drivers.
Add “-w 1024 -h 768 -refresh 60”. Run the game, and change video settings in game options to this resolution and refresh rate. It happens because your monitor doesn’t support default resolution.Remove this command line after you have changed the video settings in game.

6# Input not Supported Error Message ‘Super Meat Boy’
Force your desktop resolution and launch the game by following the instructions in #5.

7# Super Meat Boy ‘Boss Level Not Working’

You can force vertical synchronization from your Display control panel. nVidia Control Panel or ATI Catalyst Control Center.

If update doesn’t fix this issue, refer to #1 to resolve it.

11# xinput9_1_0.dll Error
Update your DirectX to 9.0c. Install the DirectX that comes with the game and you will be fine.

Start the game as admin, and in compatibility mode. Also if you come across black screen, follow the instructions in #5 to fix it.

If you are facing long load times, run the game windowed and it will improve the loading times.

17# How to fix issues with third party controllers
1. Download JoyToKey and set it to whatever controls you want (I like D-pad as move, Button 1 as Jump, and right trigger as run)
2. Unplug your controller

After many hours of testing. Following these steps, your problem should become history.

#1. Update your video card drivers, ATI website, or nVidia website depending on your graphics card type.

#2. Install the Microsoft DirectX Update found here.

#3. On some computers there is no sound card installed. This will cause Super Meat Boy to crash, because, despite your sound card drivers installed, Super Meat Boy will not run if you have no sound card. You must install a sound card if you don’t have one. In my case, I don’t know the sound card on this computer, so I simply installed VIA Audio (Wave) device generic sound card through Device Manager. Even though my PC doesn’t play sound, the crashes stopped after the fake sound card was installed.

Try these steps. In most cases your Super Meat Boy will run stable now.

Performance Tip: If you find the game is lagging a bit, especially after playing for a few hours or running programs in the background, simply set the game to run in Window Mode and open your Task Manager. Find the process called SuperMeatBoy.exe and set its priority to ‘Above Normal’. This should give your game a good performance boost. Leave the game in Windowed mode.
