How to Install Windows 7 Custom Themes

Windows 7 is getting adapted widely due its efficiency, usability, performance and eye candy. Since its release, many official as well as unofficial themes have been made available. You can check our Windows 7 Themes Collection for different skins.

But if you want to install any third party theme on your computer (which comes with a RAR archive), you can follow these simple steps below.

Step 1
You need to download a patch first. Click here to download.

Step 2
Now extract the downloaded archive and double click on file named ”UniversalThemePatcher-x64″ or “UniversalThemePatcher-x86” depending on your OS, to apply the patch. It is recommended that you execute the concerned file as “Administrator”.

Step 3
Once you have executed the file, it will ask you to patch some files. Click on patch buttons (for all files) and your files will be patched with original files backed up.

Note. There is also an option to revert to original files. All you need to do is execute the same file and click “Restore original file”.

Step 4
Once you have patched your system files, it will ask you for a restart. So, restart your computer.

Step 5
After the restart, your PC is ready for the activation of custom Windows 7 themes. All you need to do now is copy the theme folder with the “.theme” file to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes folder. Double click the .theme file to activate your theme.
