Warning: Those of you with unlocked iPhone 3G/3GS, do not upgrade to iPhone firmware 3.1.3, if you want to keep your unlock as doing so will update your baseband, which will make it almost impossible for you to unlock.

Follow this step by step guide to Jailbreak your iPhone 3G/3GS on iPhone firmware 3.1.3 untethered.
Download and Install “iTunes 9.1.1″.
Restore your iPhone to official iPhone firmware 3.1.2 or iPhone firmware 3.1.3.
Connect iPhone with your computer, Run Spirit, and click on “Jailbreak”.
Note: When running Spirit, if you get an error code c0000005, you should do the following. Windows 7/Vista users change the compatibility mode of the program to “Windows 98/Windows Me”. Do this by right click on Spirit.exe and then click on the Properties, now select “Compatibility” tab and tick “Run this program in compatibility mode for”, now choose “Windows 98/ Windows Me” from the drop down menu. Also check “Run this program as an administrator” option below.
Let Spirit do its job and wait for the moment when it shows you the message “Jailbreak Complete!”. Now wait for iPhone to automatically reboot.
You now have an Untethered Jailbroken iPhone 3G/3GS running on iPhone firmware 3.1.2/3.1.3 untethered.
