How to Update Motorola Droid to Android 2.1 Manually
Verizon has finally pushed out the android 2.1 update for Motorola Droid. If you haven’t yet installed the latest google mobile firmware android 2.1 on your Motorola Droid, you can follow the step by step instructions to install it manually.
Download the update file directly from google Motorola Droid 2.1 update ESE81-from-ESD56 or you can alternatively use mirror link.
Rename the file to Update.zip, and copy it into your sdcard root, not the subfolder. Make sure you copy into the root of your sdcard or it won’t work.
Turn off the phone.
Force the phone to Bootup in the recovery mode, to do that you need to Press the Power On button on the phone and x button on the keyboard at the same time.
You will see a triangle with the exclamation point, press the volume up key and press the camera button (only press down half way).
Use the D-pad to navigate to “apply update.zip” and press the D-pad center button to select it, It will start the update process.
When the update is finished, reboot the phone by selecting that option with the D-pad.
Once rebooted you will see that now you have Android 2.1 ESE81 on your Motorola Droid phone with all the latest features.
