MSI Offers 12 Hour Battery Backup With Hybrid Technology

Today it has become difficult to select a netbook as there is hell of variety of  netbooks in the market so MSI decided not to step back and come up with something interesting this time. This U115 Hybrid is equipped with MSI’s hybrid technology and claims to have a battery backup of 12 hours with some limitations which will be discussed in the later section. Now what about the specs of this machine?lets have a look:

• Genuine Windows XP Home
• 10” Wide Screen Display
• MSI’s Exclusive Hybrid Storage Technology(SSD+HDD)
• Big-Size Keyboard and Touch Pad
• Super Long Lasting Battery Life
• Built-in High Resolution Mega Pixels Webcam
• Built-in High-Performance 2 Channel Stereo Speakers and Microphone
• 802.11b / g / n Wireless Lan with Bluetooth
• Comprehensive Multi-Media Application Interface

Display is good, has a smart processor and have all the essentials of a netbook, looks good to me.
Two main things that makes this machine worthy of buying are it’s Hybrid technology and Battery backup time.

The U115 Hybrid is equipped with MSI’s Exclusive Hybrid Storage Technology; which makes it first netbook in the world which can utilize SSD and HDD hard drives simultaneously.A smart move I would say as it will improve the efficiency of the system. The storage is split between an 8GB SLC SSD and a normal 160GB hard drive, which can be easily turned off to save power. The operating system is installed on the SSD drive, which helps save power as well as improving performance and speeding up boot times, says MSI.

  • Battery Life
Now MSI claims that one can have a 12 hour system usage time with disabled  hard drive, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and webcam, speakers set to ‘mute’ and have the power saving mode set to maximum.Ok fine this is something that most of the netbooks require for maximum usage of battery, but I still wonder if  it will reach this mark.Anyhow MSI is in the top 4 of the netbooks designing companies so we can trust them for bringing such a technology.
  • This machine will be available somewhere in May this year for £499.
