In my Left4dead 2 autoexec.cfg guide, I covered all the basics on how you can edit and create autoexec.cfg’s for Left4dead 2. Now if you are one of those who really like to play Third Person game and want to do the same in case of Left4dead 2, you can read the following guide to play Left4dead 2 in third person mode.

Third Person view in Left4dead 2 allows you to shoot the infected with more accuracy.those who like to play third person shooters must try thi sview in the game.To apply this view,you need another cfg file named “thirdperson.cfg”.This config can be executed from your “Autoexec.cfg” in the following manner:

//Third Person Perspective with mouse wheel zoom [requires thirdperson.cfg]
// ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
alias “defaultzoom” “zoom.40″ //default zoom distance for thirdperson mousewheel zoom (change zoom.## to any multiple of 5 (30 – 200)
bind “MWHEELUP” “up” // thirdperson camera zoom up and firstperson weapon scroll
bind “MWHEELDOWN” “down” //thirdperson camera zoom down and firstperson weapon scroll
bind “q” “thirdpersonshoulder; togglezoom” // thirdpersonshoulder toggle bind (remove “togglezoom” to disable the mousewheel zoom feature)
exec “thirdperson.cfg” // thirperson zooming script
//bind “q” “lastinv” //last weapon used [Default]

Then in thirdperson.cfg,you should write:

// third-person shoulder mode with zooming

Just for the sake of introduction,an “Autoexec.cfg” is a configuration file to customize the game according to your desire by changing some of the console variables.

This file actually executes all the included commands when the game is launched.Source based games can easily be tweaked and customized by executing all these console variables in one text document.

You can use any text editor to make your CFG file.All the configuration files must be pasted in “cfg” folder of the game i.e left 4 dead 2\left4dead2\cfg in case of L4d2.”Autoexec.cfg” is actually a list of “CVars” on a text document.

What Is Meant by “CVar”
CVar stands for console variable.A CVar can have different values and types e.g Boolean : 0 (off) or 1 (on), Integer : A whole number. (Example : 123, 1, -500, etc…), Float : A number with a decimal. (Example : 0.33, 1.5, 50.4, etc), String : A set of characters etc.All these commands can be found and executed in the Console windows.

You can access the console by pressing the button(`) above the Tab button.If it’s not working then you will have to enable console from settings.

// is a standard comment when coding, it’s used to put in information into coding files to explain/describe what’s going on, or to comment out bad code. So every new section in the config file must start with “//”.

Example
For example, if you want to set in game name from autoexec.cfg then you can do it by adding some text in the file.You will see the same name everytime the game is launched.The code that you must enter in a text document for “in game name” should look like:

//Set in game name here
setinfo name yourname  //edit yourname
echo Tobi

Tobi is the name that will be visible on the developer console.

How to use the Boolean variables in Autoexec.cfg
One can also add Boolean values in the config file.For a Boolean variable there can be 2 outcomes only i.e either On/Off or True/False etc.For example if you wnt to turn the console On or Off you should use:

// Startup Settings

con_enable “1″    //default 0;    Enables Console

Similarly different CVars cn be added under the same startup class like cheats etc.

How to Reduce Lag Using Autoexec.cfg
You can improve your network performance to reduce the in game lag using the following CVars in the text document:

//Client Network Optimization
cl_updaterate “30″ //default 20; packets per second you request from the server
cl_cmdrate “30″ //default 30; command packets sent to server per second
cl_interp “0.067″                       //default 0.1; interpolation value to match updaterate 30
rate “30000″ //default 10000; max bytes/sec the host can receive data
cl_timeout 60 //workaround for server disconnecting prematurely before map load
cl_resend “1.5″ //default 6; seconds to wait before retrying to connect to a server
cl_lagcompensation “1″                //default 1;     Improves hit registration

This may take longer to connect to the server but it will definitely reduce lag.

How to Use/Add Binds in “Autoexec.cfg”
Binds are the shortcut keys to execute certain commands in the game repeatedly.For example of you want the Voice chat button other than “C” which is deault ofcourse,you can use the bind in the following way:

//Voice chat

bind “v” “+voicerecord”   //voice chat – Default: b

This will set the voice chat key to “B” so that you will have to press b everytime uo want to talk instead of “C”.You can add different binds for your own comfort.

How to Use Alias Command
One can execute commands one after the other in a sequence using a short “alias”.It can be any key on your keyboard.All you have to do is enter that alias key and all the commands bound to it would be executed e.g:

//Server Status and SM Admin
alias sv.check “toggleconsole; clear; echo [ SERVER STATUS CHECK ]; wait 60; status; wait 60; sm plugins list; wait 60; meta list;”
bind “F5″ “sv.check” //Check Server Info in console

Here all the mentioned commands in the sequence are loaded on entering “F5″ key in the console.

There are hundred of CVars and binds available on the internet for Left4dead2.Now since you know that how this Autoexec.cfg thingy works,you can add these CVars and binds as you desire or make your own. Here is a list of CVars you might be interested in, It includes both the console variables and the hidden variables which are not included in console.

{Check them out}

Battlefield Bad Company 2 hasn’t disappointed one bit but there are always exceptions and nothing can be perfect. There are bugs in the game and other things like editing controls aren’t simply simple enough.
So we are left with possible solutions and workarounds to go resolve these errors, freezes, and glitches to experience a good game. For all the possible solutions to prevailing problems in Battlefield Bad Company 2 read the guide below.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Controls Fix
If you are facing issues configuring Battlefield Bad Company 2 controls, you can read BFBC2 control fix guide to work around all the crazy controls.

How to Change FOV in Battlefield Bad Company 2
If you want to change the field of view in Battlefield Bad Company 2, close the game. Go to BFBC2 folder under “My Documents”, there find “settings.ini” and search for “FOV”. Default FOV is 55, change it to your liking.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Mouse Fix
1. If you are playing in Full Screen, switch to windowed mode by pressing “ALT+Enter”. When you are in windowed mode see the difference between where your button is and where your cursor is pointing is still present.
If it went away trying going back into full screen mode by pressing “alt+enter” again and see if that resolve this issue.

2. If above solution doesn’t work, open “settings.ini” and change “DxVersion=auto” to “DxVersion=9″.

Fixing Frequent Kicks by Punkbuster Battlefield Bad Company 2
If you are getting kicked by Punkbuster while you try to play online matches, you can try these things to fix this issue.
1. Reinstall Punkbuster.

2. If you are using steam, go to “File”>Settings>In-Game Tab and uncheck “Enable Steam Community In-Game”.

3. If the issue still prevails try the following:
Go to your game folder, installation directory and see if you can find these files in “pb” folder >pbag.dll, pbcl.dll, pbsv.dll and in “Punkbuster” folder>pbsvc.exe. See if you have all these files and in case any of these is missing try installing PB manually.

4. Download the latest version of PB manually and place it on desktop. Now delete the pb folder from the game directory “C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield Bad Company 2″. Now run pb setup and add BFBC2, in case you receive an error towards the end about something like this:

“HTM MD5s do not match security information. Please try updating again later”

Check your antivirus and see the quarantined items if you find anything related to PB in there, authorize it and run the pb setup again and everything will work fine.

5. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, right click on BFBC2 shortcut and go to its properties, there check the box that says “Run as Administrator”, this will resolve most of the connectivity issues.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Server Connection Lost Fix
There are certain ports that needs to be opened before you can play BFBC2 smoothly. These ports are:
TCP:80, 13505, 18800, 18805
UDP:53, 10000, 11000-11030, 18805

Battlefield Bad Company 2 “Crashing to Desktop” Fix
Open “settings.ini” and find “DxVersion= ” and change it to “DxVersion=9 or 10″ whatever you are using.

Force DirectX version For Battlefield Bad Company 2
If you want to force a specific directX version, open your “settings.ini” file, there find “DxVersion= ” and change it to your liking.
DxVersion=auto
DxVersion=11
DxVersion=10
DxVersion=9

If the game fails to start with the higher version, it will automatically try to start with the one before it. Like if the game failed to start with 11, it will try to start up with 10 and then 9.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 PC Slow Frame rates, Slow Performance
Install the latest graphic card drivers and try to play the game with DirectX 9, change the version of directX in settings.ini to 9.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Graphics Glitch Fix
Turn off Bloom.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Black Screen of Death Fix
No fix as of now, if you know anything suggest in comments.

Unable To Install in Windows 7 x64
If you are unable to install the game using EA Downloader in Windows 7, disable your virus scanner and re-download Battlefield Bad Company 2.

All other possible solutions to the issues mentioned above are welcomed, and the ones that have been mentioned above are all suggested by different users across www on forums and other community sites.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 is out and rocking, some say its freaking awesome and some are pretty disappointed with game being buggy as hell. Even with all the problems intact the game is frigging awesome really, talk about the gameplay and the story.

These bugs and glitches come with new games these days mostly due to people trying out games before they even get released, you got the idea all right.

Anyway the most annoying of issues being faced right now is the in game control which either don’t response or people are unable to change them, even when they change them, the alternate doesn’t work.

How you need to fix everything is what I am interested to let you know subject to how much I know as of now. This post may see frequent updates as we progress with the game and the problems faced in this regard by gamers, so keep in touch.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Mouse/Keyboard Fix
Mouse and keyboard issues are being faced by those who have the pirated copies or downloaded the game before hand to do a test drive.

-In your crack folder it is pretty obvious you have missed to copy the two text files named “jabberwocky.txt” and “pitoni.txt” to the game directory.
-Just move these two text files into the game folder, to solve the issue.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Reversed Yaw and Throttle Fix
In order to fix the reversed yaw and throttle, go into the “air.dbx” file located under “bfbc2/input/air.dbx”, in this file you need to alter two lines:
1. To do that first open “air.dbx” in wordpad.
2. Search for “IDA_Axis1X” and make sure it is under the field for “ConceptMoveFB”.
3. Now change the following line “<field name=”ScaleValue”>1</field>” to             “<field name=”ScaleValue”>-1</field>”.
4. Search for “IDA_Axis1Y” and make sure it is under the field for “ConceptYaw”.
5. Now change the following line “<field name=”ScaleValue”>1</field>” to
“<field name=”ScaleValue”>-1</field>”.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Control Config Files
Here are the land, air and infantry control files for Battlefield Bad Company 2 which you can copy and replace with your default files.

When you will be using these custom control config files, you will be using the controls set by “Drayu” the person responsible for making them. So if you want to change them to your own liking follow through the article.

Download
-Battlefield Bad Company 2 Land Controls Fix
-Battlefield Bad Company 2 Air Controls Fix
-Battlefield Bad Company 2 Infantry Controls Fix

If you want to change/edit few buttons in the game settings, you will to edit the air controls where you don’t want them. For every joystick control, map it to the trigger.
Everytime you reproduce the action, it deletes the former preset. In the end you only have controls preset to trigger which takes care of all the weird joystick movement issues while on foot and in the armor. Thanks @ Papasan9 for the tip.

How to Set Crouch to Toggle
Well if you want to set crouch to toggle set it to a macro on mouse or keyboard or gaming pad.
