The heavily rumored remake of Demon’s Souls will allegedly be a PlayStation 5 exclusive, according to known industry insider “Tidux” — the same one who previously leaked announcements for Titanfall, Fallout 4, as well as several PlayStation 4-related features. Suffice to say, the clean and accurate track record of the source makes this implication more than just a salty rumor.

Take note that PlayStation 5 has already been reported by notable sources to not feature cross-generation games at launch, meaning that the first-year next-generation games will not run on PlayStation 4. Hence, Demon’s Souls being a PlayStation 5 exclusive is understandable.

Bluepoint Games is yet to officially announce the long-awaited remake but several indicators from last year have been taken as confirmations. Demon’s Souls is definitely returning, not just as a mere remaster but as a massive next-generation offering. If Sony has indeed tied the game exclusively to PlayStation 5, Bluepoint Games would therefore have a larger freehand to make the game look more realistic, perhaps even utilizing Ray Tracing technology to boost visual fidelity. Otherwise, the developer would have to cater to PlayStation 4 as well by making necessary cuts for minimal performance differences between the two consoles.

In an interview with Bluepoint Games’ president Marco Thrush last month, he stated that until now, remastering Shadow of the Colossus (twice) was an incredible achievement of the studio. However, the project currently in the works for PlayStation 5 will easily replace Shadow of the Colossus as the greatest achievement ever in the books of Bluepoint Games.

Thrush refrained from going into any details by noting that the studio will only start talking when Sony is ready to make an official announcement. For now, let it be known that the current undertaking for PlayStation 5 is probably the biggest challenge Bluepoint Games has faced in comparison to previous projects. The whole conversations was pretty much a teaser for the anticipated Demon’s Souls remake. The only question now is that whether the game will be part of the PlayStation 5 launch lineup or not? It would be surprising if that were to be the case. More likely though, Demon’s Souls looks like a game that will arrive next year at the earliest. That being said, Sony and Bluepoint Games should start doing reveals in the coming months.

PlayStation 5 launches worldwide during the holiday season at the end of 2020. Keep your fingers crossed that Demon’s Souls is either part of the launch lineup or coming early 2021.
