Vainglory Secures $19 Million Funding, Will Support 5v5 in the Future

Vainglory has successfully closed a massive funding round, securing $19 million from investors for the continued development and expansion of the game.

According to Super Evil Megacorp, there are several ways in which the funds will be put to use. Vainglory currently only features support for a three-versus-three mode. The developer plans to expand this in the future by increasing the number of supported players in a five-versus-five mode.

In addition, the new round of funding will be used to update the multi-platform game engine E.V.I.L. for the betterment of Vainglory. This includes better optimization, better visuals, better special effects, and enabling technological support for features introduced in the future.

“As a studio, we’re obsessed with technology and unleashing beautiful graphics, stunning visual effects, and realistic animations at the highest possible frame rates, across the broadest range of platforms,” reads the announcement. “We’re thrilled with what our engine makes possible today, and we’re excited about how much more we can do for Vainglory and beyond in the days ahead.”

Super Evil Megacorp was already in the process of expanding its offices but the latest confidence put in by investors has allowed the developer to move the expansion process up. The studio is now actively looking to hire more people for its workforce.

Vainglory is a traditional multiplayer battle arena but for only mobile devices. It uses touch-screen capabilities on smartphones and tablets to push lanes and destroy enemy fortifications. Similar to League of Legends, it also includes a wide jungle and multiple objectives for players to pursue.
