Unlocking Coco Bandicoot in Crash Bandicoot
After defeating Papu Papu, look for Coco’s time machine directly below Papu’s shack. It is represented as a ‘level’. Once there, you can use the new area to toggle Coco on and off. When Coco is toggled on, you can hit R2 to swap between Coco and Crash.
Unlocking Coco Bandicoot in Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back
To unlock Coco in the second game, you will need to progress through the first five worlds in the Warp Zone and defeat the boss Ripper Roo. After you beat him, travel up the next set of worlds and you will see Coco’s time machine nearby. Use the time machine to toggle Coco on and off. After that, simply use R2 to switch characters.

In the third game, you do not need to do anything, as Coco is unlocked right from the start. You will need to go and interact with her in the main platform before you can toggle her off or on. Once done, simply press R2 to change to switch to Coco or back to Crash.
