Xbox One Exclusives

Microsoft’s E3 2017 press conference was an amazing one, we got see the Xbox One X and many games were revealed including the Xbox exclusive Forza 7. However, of all the games showcased at the press conference, only a handful of them are Xbox One exclusives and Xbox One users are wondering if there are any more exclusives in the works.

Speaking with VICE’s Waypoint, Xbox head Phil Spencer explained that the team’s first priority is the hardware itself, then its Xbox Live and the team is doing the same with its exclusive games. He revealed that the company has signed deals for Xbox One exclusives and there is no point of showing them now as they will come out after 2-3 years.

We are investing in new things, we signed things just recently that I thought, ‘Hey, from a PR standpoint it would be really easy for me to put a trailer on screen’, but then I know the game is not coming for another two and a half or three years, so I didn’t want to do that.

I understand some people would say, ‘Hey, that would give me confidence in the future of Xbox’…

This is a cheesy line, but I’ll just say, trust that this is important to us as a platform. From the top CEO of the company down, if you talked to Satya [Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO] he would say ‘I understand, we need to invest in content in the gaming space’.

It seems that Microsoft has finally realized that without games Xbox can’t thrive and generating hype for the game at early stages of development sis also not a good idea.
