Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus was announced by Bethesda Softworks during its annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) press conference earlier this week.

Details are slim at this point but we do know that it will offer the same bloody fast-paced violence and Nazi-slaughtering adventures. Here is everything there is to know about the upcoming game, but do expect the publisher to drop in new information in the coming months.

What is it about?
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is a direct sequel to the last installment and sees the return of protagonist B.J. Blazkowicz. He is, however, in bad shape and still recovering from the deep wounds resulting from the explosion that concluded The New Order.

It is unknown as to how long he has been asleep for. Perhaps weeks or months, but Blazkowicz is severely crippled and his kidneys are failing. Recovering from such a state seems impossible, which brings us to the rumor that he somehow manages to switch bodies to continue kicking ass.

The villainous Nazi element is not the only reason for him to keep fighting. Anya, his love interest from the first game, is pregnant with twins. Blazkowicz must make sure that her children are raised in a peaceful world that is not blemished by the death machines rampaging the streets.

What is the new setting?
Taking place in 1961, the alternate history sees the Nazi armies making way into the heart of the United States. Majority of the territory now belongs to the red troops, with the Resistance barely standing on its feet.

Blazkowicz is the only person who can reclaim the country back. Working together with rebel fighters, he must take the fight back to the Nazi and repel whatever new threat exits the Nazi’s war factories. It all begins from the radioactive streets of post-nuclear Manhattan.

What can we expect from the gameplay?
The sequel retains the sadistic element of violence and mechanical warfare from the first game, while raising the bar at the same time. Fans will familiarize themselves with the gameplay quickly, with a few new additions and refinements that will only make it more enjoyable to take down foes.

New weaponry is the order of the day. Consider melting targets with the Laserkraftwerk rifle or hurl gas-powered grenades with the Dieselkraftwerk. There are also several new melee weapons, such as the Hatchet for stealth take-downs.

Like before, weapons can be upgraded for more devastation. MachineGames has included a number of different variants to add flavor to combat. It all depends on the players as to how they want to finish off their Nazi enemies.

What are the platforms and release dates?
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is scheduled to release on October 27 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It is currently available for pre-order on all three platforms. Take note that the game arrives just two weeks after The Evil Within 2, another major title from Bethesda Softworks.
