Rumors Circulating Of Pokken Tournament Nintendo Switch Port

Rumors have started to circulate about the possibility of a Pokken Tournament Nintendo Switch port, which would bring the first-ever official Pokemon fighting game to the Nintendo Switch. If true, Pokken Tournament might have a second chance at success if it’s put on an actual successful console, not the Wii U.

The rumors came from a listing on the Japanese retail site Sinobi, which was advertising a fight stick that would be compatible with Nintendo Switch games. These games also included Pokken Tournament, which, for now, has not been confirmed.

Pokken Tournament came out last year in the West and got fairly average reviews, managing to sell over a million copies worldwide. The game, which takes place in the custom-made Ferrum Region, focuses on “Ferrum Battles”, which essentially allow Pokemon battles to alternate between three-dimensional movement and two-dimensional.

Players had the ability to play as if they were commanding a Pokemon battle, choosing between characters such as Charizard, Lucario, Blaziken, Sceptile, Scizor, Gallade, Mewtwo, Machamp, Suicune, and more. The Pokemon you could control also had super moves, and between rounds you could pick assists from other Pokemon.

Four new Pokemon that made it onto the arcade version of the game after it released included Scizor, Empoleon, Croagunk, and Darkrai. However, due to the Wii U becoming defunct, those four never made it to the Western version, causing those audiences to miss out on content

A Pokken Tournament Nintendo Switch port might give the game a second chance to sell more copies, especially since it never really had the chance to gain popularity as a fighting game on the Wii U. With the Nintendo Switch’s higher sales, plus with the game being Pokemon, it might be a pretty big success.

If there is a Pokken Tournament Nintendo Switch port coming out sometime soon, hopefully Nintendo confirms it soon, maybe even at E3.
