The Witcher is one of the most popular franchises in the game industry, however, the devs did not anticipate that GWENT, a side game in The Witcher 3, would be so popular among fans. Now that the open beta for the upcoming game has started, developer CD Projekt Red has announced to reward those who participated in the closed beta.

CD Projekt Red has announced that all those who participated in the GWENT: The Witcher Card Game closed beta will receive The Witcher 2 for free as a gift. To claim the game all you have to do is log-in to GOG.com with the same account that was used for the closed beta and follow the instructions ahead. However, you must claim the game before 8 AM ET on May 29.

Cross Play between games across different consoles has been a lot talked about topic. However, only a few games feature Cross Play between PC and Xbox One and GWENT will be one of them. According to CD Projekt Red, GWENT will support Cross Network play for both Xbox One and PC. However, PlayStation 4 is not yet confirmed, and according to the devs, they are looking into other options.

The game has been very popular among those who played The Witcher 3, however, according to the devs, they did not anticipate the mini-game to be so much popular and that they will develop a stand-alone game for it.

We wanted to make a fun mini-game that players would enjoy in between saving the world in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. That was the plan when we were creating GWENT. And then it turned out players were actually spending a whole lot of time playing GWENT, much more than we anticipated.

GWENT The Witcher Card Game will launch for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but no specific release date has been announced.
