Destiny 2 PC Being Developed by Vicarious Visions, Will Not Be Console Port

Vicarious Visions has confirmed that it is developing the PC version of Destiny 2 instead of Bungie and assured that it will not be a console port.

Destiny 2 gameplay has been revealed and since then Bungie has been revealing new details about the game. Just recently, Bungie revealed the PC version of the game will not launch with consoles but on a later date and the studio is also undecided on the release date for the PC version. Now, Vicarious Visions has confirmed that it is developing the PC version of Destiny 2 instead of Bungie.

Speaking with PC Gamer, Bungie’s PC lead David Shaw assured that the PC version of Destiny 2 will not simply be a console port, but the team is making sure that it feels like a PC game and plays likea PC game. Meaning that the PC game will be properly optimized for mouse and keyboard.

One of the key factors we looked at when coming to PC is that we don’t want anybody looking at the game as a console port. We wanted to make sure that it feels like a PC game, it plays like a PC game.

So we kind of have embarked on an interesting situation. We’re not outsourcing it. Instead, we’ve developed this true partnership with Vicarious Visions in Albany, New York. We look at them as an extended part of the dev team.

Also, Bungie has revealed that the studio is not ready to talk about Destiny sequel on Xbox One and specifically Xbox One Scorpio and the advantages it will bring over the standard consoles not until E3 2017. It seems that Bungie has something special in mind regarding the Xbox version of the game and will only reveal it at this year’s E3.

Bungie has also confirmed the beta for Destiny 2. According to the studio, the beta for the game will be coming this summer for PC and consoles.

Destiny 2 is a first-person action shooter in development at Bungie and is scheduled to launch on September 8, 2017, for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and the PC version will launch on a later date.
